I really hope everyone gets that Animaniacs reference in the title. If not, the show is making a comeback (on HBO I think?) so go check it out!
Anyways, I’m super psyched because my husband and I live in a relatively small town and I think – think – we may have found ourselves a watering hole.
We don’t have too many specific requirements for a restaurant to hang out at on a regular basis. Mostly they have to be willing to tolerate our children. But this place was SO cool I had to blog about it! And also get some practice describing shit.
First off: the entrance. It’s not often in a small town downtown that you get a second story restaurant with a cool set of semi-creepy, but artsy-enough-that-it’s-cool set of stairs leading to the entrance. The view of the gas station in the background isn’t exactly artistic but check out those brick walls!!
Third – and this is epic: the pizza bar. That’s my husband and two kids hanging out back there (yes, my son is sitting in the counter harassing the pizza man and everyone is totally cool with it!). I mean, this thing is cool on its own – who doesn’t want to watch pizza tossed and thrown into a wood fire oven? – but it also kept my kids occupied for almost half an hour.
Fourth: ambiance. This place was bright and cheery despite the fact that was rainy and miserable outside (our prime motivation for getting out of the house for dinner). You walk in the door to a nice open foyer with the pizza bar off to your left. Keeps strolling past the concierge stand and you enter this room, lined with more awesome brick walls and accented with open piping in the ceiling (love that). A number of tables seem to be scattered willy-nilly across the room but somehow it still seems organized and sensible.
Fifth: my favorite part. Take a right just beyond the pizza bar and the room opens up to open bar seating with those friggin awesome garage doors I love!! I can’t imagine what use anyone ever had for garage doors on the second story (assuming they were part of the original architecture) but they look very cool now. And they’re functional! In the summer they open them up and everyone hangs out in the open Colorado air, getting a nice contact high in the process. WUUUUUUUUT?!?!
What can I say? This place is cool. And this is probably the most boring post I’ve ever written. So to put a cherry on top, here is an incredibly boring picture to go with it:
